MANILA: Manila Cathedral

Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception most commonly known as the Manila Cathedral.

This is one of the most important churches in the country, Manila Cathedral is the ecclesiastical seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila. It is also one of the sought churches when it comes to weddings.

During the Spanish colonial time, the cathedral was the seat of the Spanish Archbishop of Manila.

There is a small exhibit in one of the side chapels and it depicts the Cathedral’s history. It also became the final resting place of the former Archbishop in Manila which includes Jaime Cardinal Sin.

The church is located just around five to ten (5-10) minutes of walk from the main gate of Fort Santiago. This is part of our Manila day trip.
