JAPAN: Kinkaku-ji Temple (Golden Pavillion)

We went here during our day two at Kyoto. A place that you should not miss when visiting Kyoto.

The Map

Indeed This is one of the must see prefectures in Kyoto, Japan. See how beautiful and zen the place is.

The trip will not be complete of course without a photo.

The easiest and cheapest way and most probably the direct way to get to Kinkaku-ji Temple from Kyoto Station, is by bus.

Buses for Kinkakuji depart from the main bus terminal on the north side of the Kyoto Station building. Kyoto City Bus #205 departs from Stand B3 in the center of the bus terminal. Just also a tip, make sure to try to ask if the bus you will ride is going to the temple. Better be sure than sorry. That's what we do before going inside to avoid riding the wrong one.

Why am I so happy here?

Using data on your phone is a what I will advise you to use, we rented a wifi so we always use google maps. Routes and transportation are already available. We have a one week use of JR pass so we also make use of it whenever we can.

Entrance fee to visit the Golden Pavilion cost ¥500. Make sure to go there early to avoid long queue.
