Yesterday, February 28, Ortigas Art Festival 2020 was officially launched at the Estancia East Wing, Capitol Commons in Pasig. A short program was held then it was preceded by the ribbon cutting ceremony to welcome everyone inside the gallery.
The Philippine art scene has just elevated itself a notch with the third run of the award-winning Ortigas Art Festival. It has been a big instrument which expanded our art consciousness and skillfully brought art within reach of many people.
This has been recognized and awarded in the Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards and International Business Awards 2019for their innovative and continuous effort in making art more accessible to many especially ordinary people. This year, it is being held again at Estancia, Capitol Commons which promises that guests will enjoy even more with this years art festival.
International Artists have joined the exhibit and it was especially curated by our very own talented and multi-awarded Mr. Renato Habulan,l the resident curator of Eskinita Gallery.
Among other artists whose works are on the said exhibit are independent artists such as Amel Borja, Richard Buxani, Allison Davi and Sam Panoso. There are also international artists from Australia, Bangladesh, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, New York, Serbia and Singapore.
Works from other three galleries such as Eskinita Art Gallery, Kaida Contemporary Gallery. vMeme Contemporary Art Gallery can also be found in the exhibit.
For the first time, this years art festival is featuring Papelismo Boceto, not only to highlight the artist' creative process but also to allow more art enthusiasts the opportunity to own the works of renowned artists at more affordable rates. Over three hundred bocetos from over one hundred artists will be showcased at the exhibit.
"We have always believed that art should be enjoyed by people from all walks of life and the best way to promote art appreciation is by bringing art exhibits right where people come together and malls are the best example of this. Over the past years that we've had the art festival at Estancia, we were surprised t see the great and growing interest in art among Filipinos, both young and old/ This is why we have continued with the art festival and added features which we think will be added interest to more people," said Arch. Renee Bacani, VP of Ortigas Malls.
To compliment the the exhibit, there will be seven workshops by local and international artists for those who are really eager to learn more and develop their skills. This workshops have already been lined up for learners of all skill levels.
